Interactive Dia de los Muertos display for the Downey City Library. The altar uses traditional and non traditional papel picado to frame the altar. The non traditional papel picado was used to bring the background to life.  A surreal mixed media skull takes front and center and captures the gazes of the library patrons.This interactive display is used by staff to pay homage to their deceased loved ones and famous creative artist. The altar also educates the patrons of Downey by giving them a history on the tradition. Dia de los Muertos is not Halloween.
